The Forest Hills Farmers' Market Is Here

The Forest Hills Farmers' Market Is Here

Some of you may not have known that there's a farmers' market here in Forest Hills. Well as of now, every Sunday into November, there is one. It's small, but in time, they expect it to grow ever larger, and, with some stands having all but sold out by noon, that time may be very soon indeed. Spread a good word, eat some good food, and maybe save yourself the trek out to Union Square.

All photos come courtesy of the ever vigilant Susan who pounded the pavement for us all while I was out of town.

  1. Thanks for including the Forest Hills Farmers Market in eateryROW: forestHILLS Jon!

I'm a firm believer that a quality Farmers Market is just a hop, skip and jump away from better restaurants in the neighborhood. The turnout on Sunday was tremendous, and far exceeded the expectations of the GrowNYC Manager.

She will be working to bring in more vendors over the course of the season.

Thanks again for the posting and to all those who showed up to support the Vendors!

  5. The orchard vendor showed up today and Zoe managed to land us 1 of 10 Cheesemongers in the GrowNYC program! Amazing!!

We also now have a fish monger who has a terrific selection, and Bread Alone had a solid selection of pastries for those looking for a snack while shopping.

  6. Didn't realize we have a Farmers Market. Will check it out - Thanks!

Btw, keep up w/ your restaurant reviews. Have walked by most of the restaurants you've reviewed but have been skeptical to try it out since when I need a good bite and splurge, to play safe, I always ended up taking the LIRR to NY. I would like to be more 'substantial-able' and eat locally and your reviews have introduced me to a couple of good restaurants locally. Thanks!

  7. To those of you (like myself) who have become reliant on B&Y Farms for unbelievably good Pork and Lamb ... good news.

Judy mentioned to me that they may be doing a meat-share program to get us through the 8 months of the year when we'll be sans the Farmer's Market.

If you're interested in being able to obtain meat once the market closes mid-November, make certain you're on B&Y Farm's mailing list. Stop by the stand and inquire about it over the next few weekends.
