eateryPOLL

See the right hand column? I'm trying out a poll. If I get enough responses, maybe it'll become a regular part of the eateryROW routine. If not, well, I can't say I didn't try.

Poll #1: How much is it worth to you for your fantasy restaurant to open here in Forest Hills?

  1. On a scale of 1 to 10, I'd say a 1. Even a fantasy restaurant gets tiresome after a while.

  2. I mean, you should vote on the poll. $$$-wise.

  3. Best Chef/Food, I would easily pay $30+. But I dont think there is anything in FoHi I would pay more than $30 for off the top of my head.

  4. Not yet. But I think it'd be interesting to see what the community would be willing to shell out.

  5. Fantasy restaurant in walking distance from home -- priceless.

I'd pay as much as I would to eat at some of my fave spots in NYC such as Grammercy Tavern, Blue Hill and Babbo.

  6. Those are 3 of my favorites too Susan. In fact, Babo and Gramercy Tavern are def in my top three.

  7. To have something of the quality here in FoHi like Park Avenue Cafe would be amazing. And yes, I'd pay top dollar to go ($100 or more per person) but that would be once a year. Mostly I'd like a really good meal that I can take my 9yo to (he eats well, doesn't need to have chicken fingers on the menu) that I can get away with spending $60 for the two of us, drinks not included. There are a few good places that the two of us go--Da Silvana will make him a half-order of pasta, which is nice.

  8. I don't expect a Per Se or something to open up here. Or actually need it to. What I would really love are more everyday good restaurants like Chinese food - the takeout variety or the more authentic kind. I don't understand how such a great neighborhood in Queens has such mediocre restaurants. A great Italian place would be wonderful. I know we have a cartful of them on Metropolitan and a few on Austin & QB, but they are so lame!

  9. I second what the previous "Anonymous" poster wrote re: good takeout places. Of course, when I posted a similar comment on Chowhound, I was flamed by several people.
