If not, they don't qualify as a diner in my book.

We had dinner there once, about one month ago. They have a backing that is no more than 2-3 inches high, but the way it is designed, it cuts right into the buttocks of whoever is sitting, at least in my experience. I'm not a particularly large-bottomed gentlemen, so I can only imagine how a larger person would sit there. I asked a bartender about it once, and he said that no one else ever mentioned anything about the stools.Jordanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12831176156389777158noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8709919592958418784.post-20250871613330115302017-09-12T06:47:56.064-04:002017-09-12T06:47:56.064-04:00This comment has been removed by a blog administrator.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03394084991440521868noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8709919592958418784.post-27193009435518852432017-07-06T16:49:57.509-04:002017-07-06T16:49:57.509-04:00Dayum! With that said, there are simply other options that fill the void - Jack & Nellie's (although I really wish they would open a full bar and switch up the menu), Keuka Kafe, Rove (hooray, for the full bar!) and of course, lest we forget Dirty Pierre's. Each and every one of these has superior food than Austin Public.

The big unknown, for which I have fingers and toes crossed, is Queens Bully. BBQ returns to Forest Hills. As for your question about why you appear to have become less Finger Lakey, I don't think I ever thought about Keuka Kafe as "Finger Lakes" specific, though I did think of it as NY State specific (The North Fork and Hudson Valley have decent reputations). To be honest, when you guys first opened I recall talking with the bartender who I at least thought told me point blank that the wine list would focus on NYS wine and only have others if there was no decent NYS option. If I'm wrong and that ratio has always been at about one-third of the total menu, then maybe isolating the NYS wine from the others so it doesn't get drowned out would boost their prominence. I get that the menu is color coded, but the menu is a busy one, and every time I've been there with a friend, they didn't pay attention. In fact, they'd turn to me and say "I wonder what the colors mean?" and then I'd explain it.

Anyway, keep up the good work!Jon Parkerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04728136630493588196noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8709919592958418784.post-38699413242689975492017-06-09T15:27:35.527-04:002017-06-09T15:27:35.527-04:00Excellent review! It reassured us in our desire to bring an actual wine bar to this part of Forest Hills - rich on buildings, poor on watering holes. We find every comment fair, and will use your suggestions to stay on top of our game.
We have one question to you and your readers. It's been suggested lately that Keuka Kafe lost its connection with the Finger Lakes origins. We have the same amount of the Finger Lakes wines as we did on the day that we opened - about 35%. 17 wines by the glass at the moment, to be precise.
We seriously ask, what makes us not come out as the Finger Lakes ambassadors? Please comment on an any other aspects.
Thanks for loving us, Forest Hills!
